Getting Ready For a New Riding Season.

Doesnt matter what the season, the tech tip of the week is always start with fresh fuel. Its the easiest and fastest way to get on the trails or off the trails with no hiccups. The number one service item is caused by starting and running the engine with poor fuel. Snowmobile season: Always run with an OEM belt. The aftermarket belts just dont do the job quite like the real deal. When installing a new belt be sure to check your belt deflection to make sure everything is in line.

Winterizing Your Equipment

Westside Honda® helps with proper storage so you get the best performance out of your units. You have purchased the best brand available and now its time to make sure it pays you back for years and years to come.

If its your Honda® lawnmower, garden tiller, generator, water pump, outboard motor or grass trimmer we will want to change the engine oil before parking it for the winter.

This will ensure easy start up in the spring and rid the engine of any debris that can lead to pre mature wear.

We are happy to help you with this and encourage you to call our helpful staff to arrange for an oil change on your four stroke motor.

The next important step in winterizing equipment is to stabilize the fuel. Once stabilized turn the fuel to "off" and then let the equipment run "dry" or until the engine stops.

This will ensure there is no fuel left in the carburator and will help for easy starting in the spring.
Check, clean and/or replace the air filter. Paper filters can be tapped or blown clean.
Foam filters require cleaning with a solvent and then regreased. We carry air filter oil in stock.

We offer a blade sharpening service for lawnmowers and hedge trimmers. Bring your blades in for annual sharpening.
This willl help you to get the best performance from your Honda® mulching mower or Stihl hedge trimmer.

If you're storing an ATV or SxS the battery will need to be plugged into a battery tender.
Batteries require attention when they are not in use for long periods of time.

Leaving grass clippings or mud on the equipment can lead to rust or corrosion.
Make sure you have cleaned and dried your unit before storage. If you are parking it in a storage shed beware of mice finding a home inside your equipment.
Not a bad idea to leave some mouse "food" out for them to discourage unwanted and distructive residents.
